About the name...
The name "nos confido" is Latin for "we believe." The chosen form of the word "believe" is from the verb which is the root of the English "confidence;" its meaning is "to trust confidently, believe, have confidence in, be confident of, rely upon."
This meaning reflects the hopeful purpose of these writings: that we can abstract from the mass of semantic noise present every day, those things which are good, and true, and right; those principles which contributed to the founding of our country, and in which we believe. Indeed, in which one hopes most Americans still believe.
